Blackmore CCC Site Rally, Malvern - Oct 2018
This was the first time SMOC had been to Blackmore. The entrance road to the site was shared between the CAMC and the CCC. Both sites are only seperated by a hedge. Although the site is just a few miles out of Malvern, we were surprised to learn that there was no bus into Malvern. A bus did stop outside the site but it went to Worcester in one direction and Tewkesbury, via Upton on Severn in the other.
Ralliers made good use of these to get around and also hired a minibus to travel into Malvern itself. The camp notice board contained plenty of taxi and minibus phone numbers so getting into Malvern was easy and cheap (although some people were disappointed that their bus passes were not valid).

As is usual with a CCC site, we had a room available to use for nightly get togethers. The room also doubled as a makeshift restaurant on two evenings. The pub in Hanley Swan served meals but was a little too far to walk at night, but on Friday night a mobile Fish and Chip van visited the site. We all went to the Clubroom to eat them.
The evening was so popular that on Saturday night the local Chinese Restaurant was called upon to deliver a small banquet for most of the ralliers to feast upon, once again in the room. Carol and myself didn’t attend this function. We opted instead for an evening of culture at the Malvern Theatre where we were entertained for two and a half hours by the brilliant UK Pink Floyd Experience.
When we returned to site the Clubroom was empty and not a grain of rice had been left for us from the excellent Chinese Take Away.
After heavy rain and strong winds during Saturday night we were fortunate to have good weather for our Coffee Morning. Contingency plans to migrate to the Clubhouse were not needed, although the respite in the weather was short lived. The wind and rain then set in for the day. Back in Yorkshire the weather was sunny so we said our farewells and headed home a day early.
