Brecon Rugby Club, 63 Watton, Brecon LD3 7EL
Wed 10th – Wed 17th August 2022 https://www.breconrfc.co.uk Nestling in the shadows of the majestic Beacons and at the confluence of the rivers Usk and Honddu the town of Brecon, or Aberhonddu in Welsh, is a picturesque market town, famed for its Georgian architecture. First built as a Roman military base it grew in the shadows of its Norman castle which once guarded one of the few crossing points on the river Usk. Along with the castle the town boasts an 11th century cathedral (a former priory) a vibrant and colourful canal basin and the South Wales Borderers Military Museum. There are numerous independent shops and café’s along with a monthly farmers market. There is also a 1930’s cinema as well as a modern theatre and arts venue. We will be staying at Brecon Rugby club which is situated on the edge of town and directly alongside the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal. The centre of Brecon is a short 15-minute walk away. During the month of August the annual Brecon Jazz Festival will once again be filling the town with music and for those interested further information is available via the link below. www.breconjazz.org Further afield are Abergavenny, Hay on Wye, and the spa town of Llandrindod Wells as well as Cardiff, all of which can be accessed via the local buses with many of the routes passing through the Beacons. The nearest bus stops are a short 10-minute walk from your motorhome.
