DRIFFIELD AGM AND FACTORY VISIT - SEPT 2016
We arrived at Driffield on Wednesday afternoon and spent time renewing old acquaintances and making new friends.
The Showground's function room was available in the evenings and was put to good use for us all to get together for a chat and a drink or two.
Driffield has excellent bus and train services which were used by most ralliers. It's only a short trip to Bridlington and Beverley, whilst further afield are York and Hull.
We had brought the car with us and went on the North Yorkshire Moors railway from Pickering to Grosmont (made famous by the TV series Heartbeat and as Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter films). We then went on to Whitby (considered by many Yorkshire folk to be our best seaside resort)
On Friday evening we all went over to the new Events Building and were treated to a concert by the Buckrose Community Band. They played a wide selection of music from all eras ranging from Glenn Miller to West End Musicals to Queen and were a big hit with everyone.

Saturday was the day most people had been looking forward to. This was the day of the Swift Factory Tour. We were taken by coach from the Showground to the Factory and were given a very informative guided tour.
Much of the machinery was running and we were able to see how various parts of our motorhomes are constructed. It's 3 years since our last visit to the factory and it has changed dramatically in that time. An ongoing investment programme has brought in lots of new, high tech machinery to streamline operations and create a better product.
At the end of the tour we were given a sneak preview of the latest Escape range which was due to be unveiled at the NEC show.
Long time club members, who have been on many previous Factory Tours, said this one was the best and most interesting.
On Saturday evening we had a Fish and Chip supper in the function room. This was delivered by Kelvin Brown, who also organised our visit to watch the Buckrose Band and the Swift Factory Tour.
For those of you who don't know Kelvin; he has worked for the Swift Group for many years and is now the co-ordinator between Swift Group and all the Owners Clubs for both caravans and motorhomes. He is the person who is organising the Swift Group Rally in June. On behalf of the Members and the Committee I would like to thank Kelvin for all his hard work which resulted in an excellent Rally .
