Gloucester Steam & Vintage Extravaganza -Aug 2018
Using the word ‘extravaganza’ to describe a show may seem a bit ‘over the top’, but this event fully deserves it’s title.
Organised annually by the Stroud Vintage Transport and Engine Club, the show is widely regarded as one of the biggest and best Steam, Vintage and Countryside events in the UK (second only to the Dorset Steam Fair). It attracts thousands of exhibitors and visitors from across the country, whilst actively raising thousands of pounds for both national and regional charities.
The aim of the event has always been to celebrate Britain’s unique transport heritage, in the hope of inspiring the younger generation to get involved in the preservation of historic vehicles.
Each year the show becomes bigger and better. It is split into 12 sections plus a large trade area, which is a cross between a Sunday Market and an Auto Jumble. There is also a food court with a beer tent (which seemed to have non stop entertainment throughout the weekend). It also provided some welcome shade from the fierce sunshine and 30 degree temperatures.
The best way to describe the show is through photos. Hope you enjoy them.
