Hollyfast, Allersley, Coventry - October 2016
The rally started on Wednesday, but we arrived Thursday, weather was good and the camping area a leafy tree filled area. The site warden welcomed us and showed us to our spot, kettle on. The vans were a bit sparse but were all familiar faces. On Friday we decided to venture into Coventry which needed a brisk walk down the lane to the bus stop. Once there we were right outside the transport museum, entrance which is free nowadays. In the reception area were bicycles, tandems even a seven seater, I bet everyone rushed to get the back seat. (I wonder why!). Gradually we made our way round all the different machines, read all about the factories, Jaguar, Rolls Royce and even the Blue Bird. Without realising time had flown, so back to the bus station and camp, tired out but a good day. Saturday back to Coventry for a casual walk round the shops, easy day as we call it. The club had organised a meal / get together at the White Lion pub which turned out to be a real good evening thanks to Ray & Carol. Bill secured a few bottles of wine donated by club which made the meal go down even better. I'd like to thank Carol and also John White who taxied members to and from the pub, saved my old legs. Coventry is close to both Warwick Castle and the National Motorcycle Museum. Our photographer, Bill Hoggett, managed to visit both of them. They each make an interesting day out and are definately worth a visit if you are in the area. Sunday is our departure day so after coffee morning we said our good-bye's and left for home. Another enjoyable weekend. Pauline & Hugh Jackson 647 |
