Stoneleigh Show - June 2018
The Midsummer Show was our first rally as marshals needing to mark out the pitches. We were given our area adjacent to the fenced show area with easy access to the entrance.
The weather was kind to us and we marked out pitches for 13 units ( nearly causing a divorce ) and when people arrived they were happy with the positions.
As we had no mains for coffee making, we asked everyone to bring a drink of their choice to an informal get together/meet and greet the first evening on site. Everyone had a pleasant evening, long established members getting to know newly joined members.
Everyone enjoyed the opportunity the evening entertainment offered, rock and roll till late in the evening giving some members the opportunity to celebrate family and retirements.
Many of the members took the opportunity to visit Leamington Spa which John remembered from his time living in Coventry, except the Wetherspoons which we walked to through Jepson Gardens only to find it had been closed.
Sunday morning was raffle time and again people brought their own refreshments but plenty of biscuits were on hand and again the sun shone on our gathering. Members chatted and discussed events and forthcoming rallies and then began to disperse to homes around the country. John and I were last to leave the site, tired but pleased with our first rally as marshalls.
