National Motorhome Show Peterborough - April2018
As first timers, we were apprehensive as what to expect from attending our first SMOC Rally. We need not to have had any concerns. From the moment we arrived, any concerns we may have had soon disappeared. We were met by a familiar face, as Jane (one of the Rally Marshals) was the lovely lady who told us about the club, at the NEC, when we joined in February early this year. We were made welcome and shown to our pitch in the middle arena. This was a fantastic location, being only a short stroll to the amenities, show and entertainment complex.
We were soon relaxing sitting out in the evening sun enjoying a well-earned glass or two of wine. It was not long before we were speaking with all the other SMOC members.
On the Friday afternoon Jane and Antony hosted a Rally get together, where we got to know everyone and shared the experiences of the show and previous SMOC rallies. Jane and Antony had laid on a well appreciated buffet, including delicious pork pie made with black pudding!
The weather was perfect, experiencing the hottest April day since 1949 on the Friday I believe.

It was perfect until the early hours of Sunday morning when the heavens opened up and continued with a couple of heavy down pours on the Sunday. On the Sunday morning, a get together was arranged by Jane and Antony, tea and coffee and the eagerly awaited raffle draw that we had previously been told the “newbies” did extremely well at. I was asked to pick the 1st ticket out, and yes, you have guessed it, it was my own!
Both Debbie and myself enjoyed our first Rally with SMOC and are really looking forward to joining you all on the next one. When we left on the Monday morning we drove to our dealer to have some works completed on our MH, Debbie took the booklets given to her by Antony , with how to become a member information. Debbie was singing the praises of SMOC to the Senior Sales Manager, and quite rightly so, who said he would pass these onto the SWIFT owners he knew.
