3 Mar 2010 - CAMPING & CARAVANNING CLUB SITE, TEVERSAL

The Teversal rally was our first SMOC rally. We arrived early afternoon to be met with a warm welcome from Ray and Beryl. A ‘first time rallier’ sticker was placed on our van, which really helped with getting to know everyone.

With the sun shining, we set off on our bikes to explore some of the eight miles of Silverhill Wood Country Club. Well worth a visit for cyclists and walkers.

Teversal was a good choice of site in a lovely area. We used the bus service which runs every hour from the village to go to Mansfield where we found lots of shops to keep us busy for a few hours.

The Caernarvon and The Grange are the local pubs which were good for food. Saturday night, we enjoyed a game of ‘Beetle’ at the local scout hut. The hut was booked for two nights – the Saturday and Sunday – although we think it might have been better to have had Friday evening too as a lot of ralliers went home on the Sunday.

On Sunday, we gathered outside Ray and Beryl’s van for coffee and biscuits. Whilst having a cuppa, we marked the quiz sheets, and we won!

Barry and Val arranged a three mile walk through Teversal village, finishing at The Grange for lunch, and then back to the van. After a cup of tea, the sun still shining, we set off for Hardwick Hall. Well worth a visit. It was about a five miles round trip.

Walking back our thoughts drifted towards having a nice hot shower in the impressive new shower block, and a good night’s sleep. We were too tired to go to the scout hut.

We really enjoyed ourselves and would like to thank everyone for making us feel so welcome. We look forward to meeting up again at the Peterborough Show.
