Stratford upon Avon Rally - Sept 2021
Stratford upon Avon Rally - Sept 2021
There was a good turn out for the AGM rally, Stratford upon Avon is a lovely town to visit and although we have been here on numerous occasions both with the van and without it is always a great place to visit, lots of places to eat, a big wheel, quirky buildings and of course Shakespeare. It’s a great place to rally with lots to do all very close to the site and Stratford a short ride on the river taxi from the site.
Ian and Sharon were there to greet us and get us parked up. Later that evening there was a meet and greet at their van with nibbles and drinks, the weather was kind to us and we had a lovely evening. Thursday was a lazy day for us but we did go to the pub in Tiddington for an evening meal which is in easy walking distance for most people, they are very nice and friendly in the pub being dog friendly too which is a bonus as Bertie loves a trip to the pub. On Friday Anthony and I had a nice stroll around Stratford and lunch at the Tapas bar by the bridge which of course necessitated an afternoon snooze for Anthony and bike ride for me. On Friday evening we had a get together and raffle, it decided to rain just as we gathered outside Ray and Carols van, this did not put us off and after a while it eased off and then stopped. Another good evening was had.
Wellesbourne Airfield is not far away, there is a big Saturday market here so we popped up for a look and bought some bits and bobs including a 200m hose which came in handy on Sunday. Sunday dawned bright and clear and showing typical SMOC cooperation we decided to see if we could attach all our hoses together and fill water tanks up without having to move Motorhomes, a real team building exercise and we succeeded, 9 hoses were used to perform this miracle.
An evening at the Chinese Restaurant in Tiddington was organised but as we had arranged to go out for Sunday lunch we did not think we could manage two large meals in one day so didn’t go.
On Monday it was cooler so we went to the Butterfly Farm in Stratford, it was tropical in there and so many beautiful butterflies to see, a really nice way to spend an hour or so followed by lunch at Cox’s Yard , the afternoon was spent successfully trying to repair a pipe on the Alde heating as all the fluid had leaked out. We then joined those who went on the boat trip which Bertie enjoyed too.
Our last full day was AGM day, the AGM doesn’t last too long so there was plenty of time to get out and about afterwards. That evening some of us got together and went back to the Crown pub in Tiddington for an evening meal.
We really enjoyed seeing everyone again and had a great time.
