IRISH RALLY part one - Newtown Cove, Tramore - June 2018
The site is a short distance from Tramore with it’s 4km of sandy beach. We walked there the first day but it was so hot. Decided to have food and drink at O'Sheas before heading back. If you love roast dinners, so do the Irish, it always seemed to be on the menu.
A couple of evenings we all got together for a good chat (raffle, Jenga and dice game were good fun), bring your own "bread and water".
One day we went by bus to Waterford - so much history; Viking, Medieval, Georgian. We took the road train and went down streets we might have missed, like one with the carved tree in the Viking Triangle. Popped into the Waterford Crystal shop, which was a must, but aimed at the US tourists and very expensive (and all production has now moved to Asia. We were told this by a taxi driver who used to work as a Master Engraver until he was made redundant when the factory was shut down and relocated).
The King of the Vikings Experience in Waterford is fantastic. Half an hour of Virtual Reality Experience that takes you back 1100 years to the time of Reginald, King of all the foreigners in England and Ireland . Once you put the VR headset on, you are in the middle of Viking Waterford. Turn your head and you can look up and down the street, sometimes with pitched battles taking place all around you. Very realistic, amazing technology.
